This week’s challenge. I’m going to admit I cheated a bit and wrote a story I could then fit into the blender, because the first story I wrote went way over the limit. By more than 3,000 words. It’s possible it’ll see daylight at some point, but I’ve decided to hold on to it for the moment, see if I can get feedback on it and get it out somewhere published. Oh, and it was Gothic Sword&Sorcery tale.

So you  get this instead. Which I’m calling Weird West Shapeshifter. With some body horror and Creature Feature thrown in. Very B-movie, I know. As always, your likes and comments are appreciated and valued.

This week’s challenge- insomnia. That’s about it. Decided to go a bit different with the piece this time, not quite as stripped down as I usually write. As always, comments are welcome and appreciated (and replied to)!

This week’s challenge, pick one of five story seeds, or go with a random one. I had “an accident that might not be an accident.” the accident ended up being a lot more in the backstory than front and center, but I’m still pretty happy with how it came out, and I got to give Sunny her own story for a change.

As always, comments are welcomed and encouraged!

This week’s challenge: must contain a map.

I opted to continue my story from last week, so it would probably help to read that one first. I’ve been in a swashbuckler kind of mood lately, and that’s helping scratch that particular itch. And yes, I know this ends with the promise of continuing on.

A simple enough challenge, or so you’d think. The story needs to start with a bang. Taken anyway you want.

So here you go, a bit of a swashbuckling tale, the kind I really should write more of.

My response to this week’s challenge over at terribleminds. A couple of odd old characters that I decided to dust off, along with a setting that probably doesn’t work well in this kind of short format, so apologizes in advance to the readers who are flat out lost.

A simple enough challenge. Go to theyfightcrime.net. Use those characters in a story. My two:

  1. He’s a bisexual evil genius with a water pistol full of pee.
  2. She’s an orphaned barbarian from the wrong side of the tracks.

Ahem. Sorry for the lack of clever title this week.

This week, pick a title and go! I’ve used Blake before in a bit of flash (“Nothing Like Getting Rained On“) though if I’m being honest this is more vignette than flash. Ah well, and so it goes. I think I’ll come back and flesh this out, give it a proper plot.

So the challenge this week was to do a Dragon story. The dragon could be literal or metaphorical. I went with a cross between the two. Oh, and for those of you not up on your Egyptian mythology, Apep was the Egyptian god representing chaos, and often depicted as a giant snake. This is the third time I’ve written something involving Hiram Sand. If you like him, I suggest you check out Phase 2 magazine, where you can read more about him. (more…)

A bit of urban fantasy (or maybe even a street level superhero story). The challenge this week was to go with one of the seven deadly sins and write a story based around it. So this one is mostly Lust with maybe a dash of Wrath. A bit over the limit of 1,000 words, but just by a tetch.

Comments, as always, are welcome.
