This week’s challenge: going against authority. Man this story could be another two thousand words longer, couldn’t it? Anyway, highly appropriate that Tom gets to come out and play on this one. and yeah, Sunny’s there, in the background, even if she doesn’t get screen time. Alas.

As always, comments are appreciated.

Not going to lie, this year was hard on a lot of people for a lot of different reasons.

This… isn’t that kind of post.  (more…)

Altered States II: a cyberpunk anthology (Altered States cyberpunk anthologies Book 2) by [Salgado-Reyes, Jorge, Booth, Roy C.]

Grab it here!

It features my short story LIMITLESS and happens to have some of the same characters from my NaNoWriMo novel, PROJECT PROMETHEUS.

If you do grab it, remember writers thrive on reviews, and even if you don’t feel comfortable leaving one on amazon, I’d love to know what you think of the story.

Phase 2 Magazine Issue 6 by [Gomez, Matthew X., Krider, Justin, Staggs, Matthew, Turnage, B.R.]

New issue of Phase 2 is out now. Click the link to grab your copy.

Come on, where else are you going to get quality science-fiction for less than a cup of coffee?

This week’s challenge, pick one of five story seeds, or go with a random one. I had “an accident that might not be an accident.” the accident ended up being a lot more in the backstory than front and center, but I’m still pretty happy with how it came out, and I got to give Sunny her own story for a change.

As always, comments are welcomed and encouraged!

A simple enough challenge. Go to theyfightcrime.net. Use those characters in a story. My two:

  1. He’s a bisexual evil genius with a water pistol full of pee.
  2. She’s an orphaned barbarian from the wrong side of the tracks.

Ahem. Sorry for the lack of clever title this week.

So the challenge this week was to do a Dragon story. The dragon could be literal or metaphorical. I went with a cross between the two. Oh, and for those of you not up on your Egyptian mythology, Apep was the Egyptian god representing chaos, and often depicted as a giant snake. This is the third time I’ve written something involving Hiram Sand. If you like him, I suggest you check out Phase 2 magazine, where you can read more about him. (more…)

Oh look! A story by me! And it’s not even on this site. Woo hoo!

Slightly more serious, you can check out my story “A Brief Flash in Darkness” in this issue of Phase 2, along with some other great sci-fi stories written by a group of excellent writers.

This month’s story image prompt from the Cyberpunk Writer’s group I’m part of. Not very cyberpunk in ethos (my story, not the image), but I still like how it played out.

Leave a comment if you are feeling kind.

This story was generated in response to an image prompt for a writing group I belong to on Facebook. Image link is here.

The story does feature one my favorite recurring characters, the veteran with a cybernetic arm, Tom. And where there’s Tom, there has to be Sunny.
